American Express announced today it has created 2 cash reward places and a cash bonus place for American Express customers who complete the loyalty program.
American Express also is launching a new program, American Cash Back, which will reward American Express cardholders with 1,000 points for every $1 spent.
“With these new rewards, we’re making American Express the most rewarding loyalty program for American families, and our customers, as we continue to evolve our loyalty programs,” said American Express President and CEO David M. McCallion.
“These new cash rewards will be available on American Express cards at participating American Express stores across the country beginning this week.”
American cash back places are available for a limited time, and can be redeemed at select American Express locations in the U.S. and Canada.
In the United States, American Express is offering $100 cash back on up to $200 in purchases at participating retailers.
The first 2,000 American Express Cash Back places will be limited to 10,000 locations, and the first 2.5,000 will be open to American Express members.
Other rewards that will be offered in the new program include: 1,800 points on any American Express Membership Rewards membership purchase, 2,500 points on the first $250 spent on a Costco gift card, 1,200 points on purchases at Target and Walmart, 1 point on all grocery purchases at Costco, and 1 point each on purchases from Target, Wal-Mart and Kroger.
As part of the program, consumers can earn up to 10% cash back in cash back rewards on eligible purchases, up to 1% on grocery and gas purchases, and up to 5% on travel purchases.
